Teacher Education and Assessment Continuum for High-need Educators and Resources + Principal Leadership in Urban Schools (TEACHER + PLUS) Project ($1,573,740).
This grant builds upon and enhances current elective practices, creating an integrated, comprehensive system of urban teacher recruitment, preparation, induction and retention to strengthen a pipeline model that will recruit and prepare 500 high-quality teachers for Chicago Public Schools.
Training of Pre-Service and In-Service Teachers of English Learners ($305,912)
The grant assists paraprofessionals in the U-46 School District of Elgin and the surrounding communities to complete a four-year degree and achieve certification in K-9 bilingual/ESL. The project will also provides ESL coursework to 50 in-service teachers and help 25 teachers who hold transitional certificates to earn permanent K-9 bilingual/ESL teaching certificates.
Transitioning Paraprofessionals into Teachers of English Learners (TPT) ($257,129)
The grant responds to the increasing demand from local school boards and the state for qualified ELL teachers and to increase all teachers’ knowledge of ELL students. Assistance will be provided to 51 paraprofessionals to complete a four-year degree in K-9 bilingual/ESL certification.
Evaluating and Building a Continuous Improvement Framework within P-12 Principal Preparation Programs in Illinois ($390,000)
This grant is a two-year project focused on evaluating the effects of the new ISBE/IBHE principal preparation program criteria on redesigned programs, and to create a continuous improvement evaluation process for P-12 principal preparation programs.
Evaluation Services – State Personnel Development Grant Project ($625,000).
The grant addresses the need for a systematic program evaluation on the state of Illinois’ ability to provide intensive professional development, coaching, and technical assistance on Response to Intervention (RtI) that yields large-scale, sustained results.
