The Leadership Education and Development unit of the Dean of Students Office and Milner Library are hosting a series of pop-up library events this fall. This series invites the Illinois State University community to explore cultural leadership as a form of creative resilience through the recognition of multicultural writers, artists, and creatives from marginal backgrounds. The pop-up library events use the Leadership of Liberation framework to explore the connections between cultural preservation, community-based leadership, and academic libraries.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in a guided and self-paced experience to examine each value of the Leadership for Liberation framework from the lens of historically marginalized communities. The framework focuses on leadership as a vehicle to prepare participants to grapple with complex, interconnected systems of oppression and domination that prevent the envisioning of a liberated world. Resources from Milner Library will be available at the pop-up to explore and enrich the conversation. Each event takes place in the Student Involvement Center, room 227, located on the second floor of the Bone Student Center.
