This spring, instructors can learn to develop and deliver immersive, engaging online and blended learning experiences through two premier programs offered by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT).
DART Online
CTLT will again offer the popular DART (Design, Align, Refine, and Teach) Online program for tenure- and non-tenure-track faculty. This program guides instructors through the use of the Quality Matters rubric for quality online, blended, and hybrid courses to prepare a course scheduled for delivery in the summer or fall of 2022.
TOP
New this spring, CTLT will also off TOP (Teaching Online Program), which focuses on how to apply evidence-based solutions to address the challenges of engaging and supporting the success of online students. While DART is about designing an online course, TOP focuses on delivering it and working with students to maximize their success.
Note that “online” can include courses with some face-to-face or blended elements, so even courses that are not 100% online can benefit from these programs.
An In-Depth Experience
Both of these workshops will span the entire spring semester, from January 10 through May 6, 2022, and will be offered fully online. Work will be completed asynchronously, allowing participants maximum flexibility in integrating the work load (estimated at 4 to 5 hours each week) into their busy schedules.

Prerequisites
Instructors participating in either DART Online or TOP must be “on the books” to teach an online course this summer or in the coming academic year. While preference is given to instructors with minimal online teaching experience, all participants should possess basic computer skills. Those who do not will struggle to successfully complete these programs and may not be prepared to offer our students a high-quality online course experience.
Stipends
The Office of the Provost provides funding for stipends in the amount of $1,500 for participants who successfully complete the program. Successful completion is measured by the approval of the participant’s chair or director, who will verify that they have accepted the course on behalf of the department or school.
To Apply
Seating for each program is limited to 15. Potential participants must be nominated for either program by their department chair or school director before noon on Monday, November 29, 2021. Chairs and directors received an email with nominating instructions earlier this month.
