Both teams are eager to catch tourney title this spring.
The Illinois State baseball and softball teams were both preseason Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) favorites to win the league title in 2011. April will prove critical in their quest to do just that, as both teams have double-digit home games on the schedule.
The Redbird baseball team will play 13 games at Duffy Bass Field in April, including two conference series against Creighton (April 8-10) and Indiana State (April 29-May 1). Illinois State will also host four in-state nonconference opponents in Chicago State (April 1-3), Northern Illinois (April 12), Illinois (April 19), and Illinois Wesleyan (April 26).
The Illinois State softball team will have 11 games, all against MVC opponents. The Redbirds host Missouri State (April 2-3) for a three-game series, followed by Northern Iowa (April 9-10) for another three games. Illinois State will host Indiana State for a doubleheader at Marian Kneer Stadium on April 20, before facing Southern Illinois in a three-game tilt (April 30-May 1).
