Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ani Yazedjian has announced that Dr. Chad McEvoy has been named the dean of Illinois State University’s College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST), effective July 1. McEvoy is currently vice provost for faculty affairs and chief of staff to the executive vice president and provost at Northern Illinois University.
Appears InMcEvoy will succeed Dr. Todd McLoda, who has served as CAST dean since 2017.
“Dr. McEvoy brings years of experience as a faculty member, program director, and administrator to his new role as CAST dean,” said Yazedjian. “He also brings a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in student success, faculty development, and all areas of university operations. That experience will serve CAST and the University well in the coming years. I would also like to extend my thanks to Dr. Todd McLoda for his exemplary service and dedication as CAST dean these past six years.”
In his current position, McEvoy provides strategic counsel and guidance on budgeting and communications for Northern Illinois University’s Academic Affairs division, and oversees that university’s faculty development and personnel processes, including faculty hiring, promotion, tenure, and sabbaticals. He was previously professor and chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Northern Illinois, a professor and graduate program director at Syracuse University, and a professor and coordinator of the graduate sport management sequence in Illinois State University’s School of Kinesiology and Recreation.

McEvoy holds a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Iowa State University; a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and a doctoral degree in sport administration from the University of Northern Colorado. McEvoy’s research is in the area of revenue generation in the sport industry, where his research has been featured in more than 100 media outlets, such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. McEvoy has also published seven textbooks and served as editor of two scholarly journals.
