United States Ambassador (retired) Geeta Pasi, the inaugural Donald F. McHenry Visiting Professor in Diplomacy and International Affairs at Illinois State University, gave a talk titled, “Serving America Abroad: Insights from my Career as a Diplomat,” at the University Club on Friday, December 1.
Pasi shared insights from her career in the foreign service, including touching on the unique experience of families and detailing the opportunities and challenges the career presents. She detailed the various professional tracks in the foreign service, highlighting their specific roles in advancing U.S. foreign policy. Questions focused on some of the more nuanced issues related to the career, including countering disinformation given the rise of social media, interagency cooperation, and collaboration with other countries.
