The Homecoming parade is the second longest-standing tradition at Illinois State University and one of the premiere events during Homecoming itself.
The parade is also one of the most attended events by the community both as viewers and entries. This year, the Office of Alumni Engagement is seeking volunteers to work parade day and be a part of a newly formed parade committee.
Volunteers will help execute the parade on Saturday, September 28, by helping with a variety of tasks that will be assigned. These tasks range from checking in parade units, assisting with lineup, managing road closures, and helping the parade run smoothly for all participating.
A volunteer committee will meet virtually once a month starting in May to learn about the parade, select a task, help with logistics, and most importantly, connect with fellow Redbirds. Volunteers will also be asked to do a parade walkthrough before Saturday’s event and be available Saturday morning to assist with the parade.
Those interested can complete the parade volunteer form and a Homecoming parade chair will reach out with more details. Help make the parade one to remember at Illinois State as we celebrate Homecoming 2024: Relive the Moments.
