Queer Coalition—a faculty, staff, and graduate student affinity group at Illinois State University—will celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility on Friday, March 29, with a sashay around campus. The group will begin gathering at 4 p.m. at the Multicultural Center and depart at 4:15. From there, they will complete a circuit of the interior of the quad before returning to the Multicultural Center for refreshments and community building. Representatives from university administration, Queer Coalition, and Pride will give brief remarks.
Participants are encouraged to express their creativity and individuality with highly visible and colorful clothing. Hand signs will be provided, though marchers are also invited to bring their own. All are welcome to attend. Those who wish to become a member of Queer Coalition may also fill out the membership form.
Participants are advised that the Illinois State University Police Department will be providing support at road crossings. Media coverage will also be present; they have been asked to focus on those at the front of the sashay. Please email lgbtq@IllinoisState.edu with any questions.
