As the 2024 general election nears, the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) will host a Voter Engagement Open House on Friday, May 3, from 2-4 p.m. for faculty, staff, and students interested in sharing ideas about voter engagement efforts. The open house will include light refreshments and CCE staff will be available to discuss current voter engagement plans and hear campus and community ideas for programming that they want to see or already have planned themselves.
For faculty or staff members who want to get involved in these activities, CCE is seeking members for its Voter Engagement Coalition. The coalition is a group of dedicated faculty and staff committed to promoting voter registration and encouraging civic participation among ISU students.
Throughout the summer and fall 2024 semester, the Voter Engagement Coalition will meet to discuss ongoing efforts across campus to engage students in the election. Those interested in the Coalition are encouraged to attend the open house, but if they are unable to, associate director Paige Buschman should be contacted at pebusc2@IllinoisState.edu.
For students who want to get more involved in these activities, CCE is also currently accepting applications for 2024 General Election Interns. Students will be directly involved in campus voter engagement efforts to help educate fellow peers about the electoral process.
The internship is a great opportunity for students to be involved in civic activities while promoting democratic participation. Interns will be expected to be a positive representative of the center while remaining non-partisan and following official election procedures. For students interested in applying, the application deadline is May 3. Questions regarding the application can be directed to Caitlin Bradford at cabrad3@IllinoisState.edu.
