Redbird Esports is in its second year hosting summer camps for the Illinois State University and greater Bloomington/Normal communities. Registration is open for the remaining July sessions.

During camps, children aged 8-15 embark on one week of learning and gaming. Throughout the week, Redbird Esports head coaches will teach skills both in and out of game. They’ll help campers with everything from refining their aim or enhancing their expertise at Rocket League to educating about teamwork and modeling what good communication looks like.

There will also be opportunities for campers to learn how to build a computer and an introduction to coding. While you can’t major in Fortnite, campers will learn about the amazing degree paths at Illinois State University as well as a special look at the Game Design program in the School of Creative Technologies and the offerings held inside the Active for Life program in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation, including esports!

As part of their time, campers enjoy a tasty lunch at Watterson Dining Commons, with a variety of options to choose from such as sandwiches, pizza, salad, tacos and of course, ice cream. After lunch, they’ll venture to Illinois State University’s beautiful Quad where they’ll engage in fun activities, such as spike ball, frisbee toss, and tag.
