International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Advisor Tyler Yozze was awarded the Region V New Professional Award at the recent NAFSA: Association of International Educators Regional Conference. Yozze was nominated for this prestigious award by the NAFSA Region V Chair, Bob White. According to the NAFSA website, “the New Professional Award recognizes an individual in the region who has made an outstanding contribution to international education through his or her enthusiasm, potential for leadership, and actual accomplishments in his or her institution or community and Region V.”
Yozze expressed his pride in winning this award saying, “I am honored to accept this award and am excited to continue my professional development to further contribute to NAFSA and the ISU community. I would like to thank my supervisor and ISSS Director Aubrey Wagoner, for being an invaluable mentor throughout my time with ISSS. I would also like to thank Dr. Roopa Rawjee for her continued support and for making it possible for me to attend the NAFSA Region V Conference.”
When learning of the accomplishment, Rawjee, the Office of International Engagement executive director, expressed, “I am delighted to see Tyler recognized by our premier organization! He brings a wonderful, calm, supportive energy to his interactions with students, staff, and faculty and is a quick learner. Immigration regulations are complex, and he approaches his advising with the student’s best interests at front and center. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge his supervisor, Aubrey Wagoner, for the time and thought she is putting into Tyler’s learning and development. The OIE is evolving gradually into a cohesive and collaborative unit. I am excited for the good work that the entire team is doing.”
Wagoner commended Yozze for this award saying, “It is a joy to have Tyler in the ISSS office, and I am so happy to see him being recognized in this way. He has shown tremendous growth over the past 15 months and is well deserving of this award. His dedication to the international student population and to honing his skills in the field of immigration advising is truly admirable. I am thankful every day to have him as part of the ISSS team and know the students are benefiting from his ever-growing knowledge and expertise.”
