With the fall semester wrapping up, University Housing Services (UHS) is pleased to announce this term’s recipients of the Resident Assistant (RA) Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to RAs who exemplify success in the classroom and the RA leadership role. This semester, five $500 academic scholarships were awarded to exceptional students.

A passionate and dedicated resident assistant who goes above and beyond for her residents, Natalie Herbert was a deserving candidate for the RA Scholarship.

“Receiving the Resident Assistant Academic Scholarship has been an incredible blessing that has significantly impacted both my role as an RA and my journey as a first-generation college student,” Herbert said. “The support provided by this scholarship allows me to focus on my academics, leadership responsibilities, and my residents, without the constant stress of financial strain.”

A Golden Apple scholar with a 4.0 GPA, Herbert balances her studies with her responsibilities as an RA.

“Knowing that I can be a resource and a source of encouragement during such a pivotal time in my residents’ lives is something I truly value,” Herbert said. “It is very fulfilling to see the growth and resilience in my residents as they face challenges and celebrate their successes.”

Herbert noted the RA team is a helpful resource that new RAs should utilize when just starting in the position.

“When faced with difficult situations, like roommate conflicts or emergencies, talking things through with your team can provide fresh perspectives and help you navigate difficult moments with confidence,” Herbert said. “Those on your team each have unique knowledge and experience and are there to support you every step of the way.”
