Illinois State University has completed negotiations with the United States Department of Health and Human Services for the University’s facilities and administrative (indirect) cost rate. The new rate is 45 percent (up from 44 percent) and will be effective through fiscal year 2017. Prior submissions and awards will continue to use the 44 percent rate.This rate is applied to modified total direct costs, which does not include
- Equipment (with unit cost more than $5,000)
- Portion of subgrants/subcontracts more than $25,000
- Capital expenditures
- Patient care
- Tuition, scholarships, and fellowships
For grants that support work that occurs entirely off campus, the indirect cost rate remains 26 percent.
