The Career Center at Illinois State discontinued the support of hard copy credential file requests on June 30. Alumni and students who currently have files maintained by the Career Center may either independently manage hard or electronic files, or maintain electronic files through an outside vendor. Files that are not transferred will be destroyed after January 1, 2013.

Additional information on the transition process and options for file storage is available online.

I’m confused as to what this means for me. I am an Alumnus from 1978. How can I either manage my hard or electronic files myself? What is the process? Who are the outside vendors? I haven’t sent any credentials in about 5 or 6 years. I don’t have plans to send my credentials anytime soon. What do you recommend I do?

    Thanks,

    Karen

A credential file contains a resume and lcurrent etters of recommendation. You may send your own copies of recommendation letters through mail or create an electronic file where letters of recommendation are scanned into an electronic file system. This link will provide more information regarding self-managed credential files: http://www.careercenter.ilstu.edu/downloads/Self-ManagedCredentialInformation.pdf
