Student Counseling Services (SCS) is once again offering students the opportunity to take part in a program to promote awareness of diversity and expand the opportunity for cross-cultural and inter-group interactions on campus. The program is called Voices of Discovery (VOD).
SCS is currently in the process of recruiting participants for one VOD group that will meet on Mondays. Any faculty and staff who know of students who may wish to participate in the program are encouraged to have them fill out the online application. Applications are due by March 7.
In the VOD program, students from different groups are brought together for an honest, reflective, face-to-face dialogue. The group consists of 12 to 15 students from different identity groups. The group is guided by two trained facilitators and discussion will focus on cultural awareness, identity development, stereotyping, discrimination and social stigma. The students are asked to commit to meet for one and a half hours a week for six weeks and then participate in a closing ceremony at the end of the seventh week.
