In the following Q-and-A, senior Christina Danno shares some of her experiences as a philosophy major.
What have you enjoyed most about being a philosophy major at Illinois State?
Being able to meet really great people and professors! The coffee and doughnuts are also a plus.
If you had to take one—and only one—philosophy book or article to a desert island, which one would it be?
My Oxford Readings in Philosophical Theology Volume 1: Trinity, Incarnation, Atonement book. I read it for my independent study and enjoyed it.
Do your friends and family know that you study philosophy?
Yes, it’s not something I hide. They think it’s cool, but then I always get the “So what’re you going to do with that degree?” question.
What other majors did you consider?
I’m also an English major so I’m grateful I was able to do both. But if I had to pick a third choice it would have been acting.
What are you plans after graduation?
Hopefully I’ll be in the city.
