Photos: How 5 College of Education student organizations engaged the community

College Mentors for Kids connects Illinois State students (mentors) to local at-risk youths (buddies). Mentors and buddies participate in on-campus activities each week and discuss post-secondary education, career fields, culture and diversity, and community service. Illinois State’s group was recognized as the national organization’s 2013-2014 Chapter of the Year.

The College of Education supports 19 unique Registered Student Organizations, all of which are dedicated to raising awareness and engaging the community in a variety of causes and efforts.

Student members possess a passion for helping others and fully commit themselves to the extracurricular work. The following slideshow offers a photographic year in review of some of the community events organized by five College of Education student organizations, including College Mentors for Kids, the Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC), Braille Birds, Best Buddies, and the Future Educators Association-Professional (FEAP).
