The annual Concerts on the Quad series has returned to Illinois State.
Three concerts remain in the series, which are free and open to the public. All concerts will be at 7 p.m. on Mondays in front of the castle-like setting of Cook Hall on the northwest corner of the University’s Quad. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
Switchback, July 14
A unique blend of Americana and Celtic music, this duo combines a mix of mandolin, guitar and bass.
Evening of Jazz, July 21
Cool jazz from Illinois State faculty and guests will light up the evening.
Singing Under the Stars, July 28
Faculty and guests bring the stage to the Quad with songs from Broadway and the opera.
In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be presented in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. If a change of location is necessary, it will be announced after 5 p.m. on radio stations WGLT, WJBC and WBNQ.
Concerts on the Quad are hosted by Illinois State University’s School of Music and College of Fine Arts, in conjunction with the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and The Pantagraph.
This year’s sponsors for the Concerts on the Quad series include the Jerome Mirza Arts and Culture Fund of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, The Fell Trust, The Town of Normal Harmon Arts Grant Program and The Pantagraph.
