As a full-time college student, part-time employee, undergraduate teaching assistant, and an active member of several organizations on campus, my average day usually consists of a packed full schedule:

11 a.m.: I usually start my day by waking up around 11 a.m. This may seem a little late to wake up, but I do not start class until 12:35 pm every day. This is just one of the perks of being able to create your own schedule. Before heading off to class, I always try to grab at cup of coffee from the dining center. Sometimes, I wake up a bit earlier to grab breakfast/lunch with a friend.

12:35–5 p.m.: The middle of my day is dedicated to going to class. Depending on the day, I either have class until 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. If I have a break in between classes, I try to fit in a quick study session at Milner Library.

5–7 p.m.: After classes, I usually hold an office hour for my teaching assistant (TA) position, go to a meeting for one of my organizations, or participate in an event.

7 p.m.: My next destination is Watterson Dining Commons to get dinner and catch up with my friends. It is a good time to unwind from the day and relax a bit.

9 p.m.–12 a.m.: My day is not quite over yet. My last thing to do in an average day is go to work! I head to the University Computer Help Desk in Julian Hall, where I stay until midnight. I love that I am able to work at this time, because I consider myself a night owl and it fits perfectly into my schedule. If I am not scheduled to work that night, I spend a few hours of my night at the track at the Student Fitness Center because I love running and it is a great end-of-the-day stress reliever.

12–2 a.m.: Since I do not have to wake up until 11 a.m. the next morning, I usually stay up later than other students. I will use the last two hours of my day doing my homework or studying for an exam.

As you can see, my schedule is usually relatively busy, but I am able to create my schedule to my liking. On-campus jobs are usually very flexible with students’ schedules. Class schedules are totally up to the student on how they want to arrange their courses. So whether you want to get your classes out of the way early in the morning, or sleep in a little bit, the decision is ultimately up to you.

However you decide to spend your day, remember to make each day count!
