Students participating in internships find it easier to get hired than those who do not. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers 2014 Employer Survey, employers made full-time offers to 64.8 percent of their interns.
Students can learn the benefits of internships from fellow Redbirds with previous internship experience at the Career Center’s Student Panel on Internships event September 15. The program will teach students how to find internships, how to make the most of an internship, and how to market the experience with employers seeking candidates for full-time employment positions. This program will help prepare students for the upcoming career fairs.
The Career Center at Illinois State is hosting the Fall Internship Fair from 4–7 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in the Brown Ballroom at the Bone Student Center. Students seeking internships in various industries while attending Illinois State are encouraged to attend. Recruiters will come from a number of entities, including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, local businesses, hospitals, and government agencies.
Students can also have their resumes critiqued anytime during the Career Center’s walk-in hours. If faculty or staff would like to have students participate in critiques during walk-in hours as part of a class assignment, they should contact the Career Center in advance to ensure plenty of staff are on hand to adequately serve the students.
