Metcalf’s sixth grade Mandarin class celebrated a traditional Chinese holiday Monday, September 8. Presentations on the Mid-Autumn Festival and Thanksgiving were given by the students who had researched the different regions, the way people celebrate the holiday, and the food typically eaten at the festival.
Traditional Chinese lanterns were also made using paper and included a riddle strip. Students were treated to moon cakes and Chinese tea. Thank you to Heartland Community College for providing the moon cake.
This is the first year that Metcalf has offered Mandarin as an option with its foreign language curriculum. Lin Lin is the faculty associate for this class.
