IT student mentees and IT professional mentors came together at two mentorship kickoff events to meet and plan their mentorship experience for the 2014–2015 academic year. Thirty-four IT students and 22 IT professionals are participating in the mentorship program that matches IT students with IT professional mentors.
The goals of the IT Professional Mentorship Program are to expose students to the professional environment, help students develop the soft skills necessary to be a successful professional and provide an opportunity to learn about the various career paths available to IT students. In addition, professional mentors participating in the program report that their professional development is enhanced by the mentorship experience and the fresh perspective of students.
The mentorship program will continue through the 2014–2015 academic year, culminating with a professional networking event in the spring.
