On Tuesday, December 2, Illinois State University will participate in Giving Tuesday, the worldwide day dedicated to generosity and giving back. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends will come together to show their Redbird pride and support University scholarships and programs with their financial gifts.
During Giving Tuesday donors can visit IllinoisState.edu/GivingTuesday to make a gift of any size. Gifts can be designated to support specific departments or programs, or they can be put toward scholarship funds that will benefit students attending Illinois State.
Generous Illinois State alumni have already pledged challenge gifts to encourage others to show their support on Giving Tuesday. Updates on the fundraising campaign will be given throughout the day on Illinois State’s Giving Tuesday website and on its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“Black Friday and Cyber Monday get a lot of attention this time of year,” said Lora Wey, executive director of Annual Giving. “Illinois State University is participating in Giving Tuesday because the emphasis of the day is giving back to institutions and organizations that we care deeply about. Illinois State plays a huge role in the lives of so many people and this is a great way to support the students, programs and the future of this great school.”
To show the University’s appreciation, a giant thank you card will be located on Milner Plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 2. Students are being encouraged to sign the card and thank donors for giving back.
