In the following Q-and-A, senior Erin Lohr shares some of her experiences as a philosophy major.
What have you enjoyed most about being a philosophy major at ISU?
I really enjoy every part of the Philosophy Department at ISU, but I especially enjoy the class discussions and exploring new ideas with other philosophy majors.
If you had to take one—and only one—philosophy book or article to a desert island, which one would it be?
I would bring Peter Singer’s Famine, Affluence, and Morality.
Do your friends and family know that you study philosophy?
My family and friends definitely know that I am studying philosophy.
What other majors did you consider?
I considered environmental science and biology, but I am really glad I chose philosophy.
What are you plans after graduation?
After graduation I plan to go to grad school to pursue a master’s degree in philosophy.
