Looking for a creative, new way to engage students? SoftChalk can help! This program lets you easily create engaging, interactive web lessons. You will learn to create interactive learning games such as customizable flashcards, image labeling, matching games, crosswords and more. SoftChalk Lessons are easily imported into ReggieNet. Registration is required.
Illustrator CS6: Part 3
Tuesday, March 24 • 1–4 p.m.
Get an overview of Illustrator’s Pen Tool, the principal tool for drawing complex shapes in this popular program. Registration is required.
Rediscover the Document Camera
Tuesday, March 24 • 1–2 p.m.
Document cameras have been installed in classrooms for years, but they get little use. These tools make it easy for you to bring new materials into your class without digitizing anything. They also provide glimpses of objects that would be very difficult to show in class. Find out all the ways a document camera can be used and discover if this hidden gem can be an asset to your class. Facilitated by Doug Smith, director of Learning Spaces and Audio/Visual Technologies. Registration is required.
Future Professors Development Circle
Wednesday, March 25 • 12–1 p.m.
This professional development circle helps graduate students prepare for a career teaching in the academy. Explore pedagogical issues, effective and disruptive teaching strategies, and gain confidence in your ability to teach at the college level. Share teaching tips, tricks, and get support from other future professors. All participants will receive a copy of Tools for Teaching (Second Edition) by Barbara Gross Davis. This group is open to all graduate students currently teaching or planning to teach in the future. No registration necessary.
InDesign CS6
Wednesday, March 25 • 1–4 p.m.
Get an introduction to this page layout editor, including a tour of basic tools. Learn to place and move graphics and text to create an aesthetically pleasing format for printing. Registration is required.
Photoshop CS6: Part 4
Thursday, March 26 • 1–4 p.m.
This session will give you an overview of how to combine elements from two different pictures (we’ll be taking a starfish from one picture and putting it on a beach). In addition, we’ll look at how to make harder selections using Photoshop’s more advanced selection tools. Registration is required.
