The Illinois State University Percussion Ensemble will present its spring concert, titled 12:6:4, at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff and $6 for students and seniors.
The concert program will include large and small ensembles performing “Forward, Together Forward” by Ben Wahlund; “Explorations of Time” by Eckhard Kopetzki; “Extremes” by Jason Treuting; Jennifer Higdon’s “Splendid Wood;” and David Skidmore’s “Whispers,” the first prize winner in the 2005 Percussive Arts Society Composition Contest. The selections utilize a wide variety of percussion instruments and explore a number of different musical styles.
Illinois State’s Percussion Ensemble is directed by School of Music faculty members David Collier and Ben Stiers.
