CARLI, the library consortium Milner Library belongs to, is upgrading the library catalog. This affects Milner Library and all 84 other I-Share schools. Please use WorldCat instead.
The library catalog will be offline and unavailable starting at 5 p.m. Friday, June 12. It is expected to be back up on Monday, June 15. Milner Library is always closed on Saturdays during summer, and will be open as usual from 1–8 p.m. Sunday.
Below are some commonly asked questions about the library catalog downtime.
Will I still be able to search the catalog?
No. Both Vufind and the Classic Catalog will be totally offline during the upgrade. If you do visit the I-Share library catalog, you will get an error page. During previous, smaller upgrades, a “static” version of the catalog has been available, but this is not the case this time. However, you will be able to find items using WorldCat.
Will I still be able to use online databases to find journal articles?
Yes! All electronic databases, as well as the “Search Anything” box will be unaffected.
What can I do instead to find a book?
If you know you will be visiting Milner Library on Sunday, June 14, you may want to find titles and call numbers for items that interest you before 5 p.m. Friday. Additionally, we recommend using WorldCat as a backup catalog. However, it will not be able to tell you if an item was checked out or returned very recently.
Will I still be able to check out books, DVDs, or other things?
Yes! You can still check out items. The data will be uploaded on Monday morning. This means the due date for your items may change, so check your online account later to make sure it is accurate.
I requested a book from another school on Friday afternoon. Will that book still come to me?
All items that are in transit between I-Share schools will continue on to their destinations, and any requested items that have not yet been fulfilled by the time the catalog goes down will be located and sent to you as soon as possible.
