If you struggle with negative thinking–worrying too much, being overly self-critical, or feeling sad and depressed– then learning how to create some distance from, and slow down, your thoughts can be very helpful.
Student Counseling Services’ new Mindfulness Drop-In Group helps students learn how to use mindfulness–the practice of being fully and attentively present in the moment. The goal is to recognize and create distance from the negative thinking patterns that can rule lives.
The Mindfulness Drop-in Group meets every Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Student Services Building, room 314, and is appropriate for either new or experienced meditators. Beginning meditators are encouraged to come at 2:45 to receive some basic guidance about mindfulness.
