Once again this year the Civil Service Council is proud to announce its partnership with Toys for Tots of McLean County for the annual Christmas project. Toys for Tots drop boxes will begin appearing around Illinois State’s campus beginning Monday, November 16, and will be collected on Monday, December 21. Toys for Tots accepts new unwrapped toys that will be given to local children in need. Your generosity will make a huge impact on a child this holiday season. Please consider dropping off a toy. Drop boxes will located in the following areas around campus:
- Department of Criminal Justice Sciences: Fourth floor, Schroeder Hall
- Office of the Registrar: 107 Moulton Hall
- Alumni Center
- Nelson Smith Building
- Milner Library: Break room
- Uptown Crossing
- Hovey Hall
McLean County Toys for Tots was affiliated with the drive based with the “Charlie Company” Marine Reserve Unit in Peoria, Illinois. However, in McLean County, the drive was run by a group of dedicated volunteers made up of local businesses and retired Marines. Prior to the Christmas season in the year 2000, it was decided that the McLean County drive would apply to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation for re-designation as an independent campaign or local community organization. The designation was granted, and for over 14 years McLean County Toys for Tots has worked to make sure children in need in the community have a brighter Christmas.
