Illinois State School of Biological Sciences Ph.D. student Kristin Duffield has received a competitive grant from the Animal Behavior Society for her proposal titled “Give It All We Got Tonight? Terminal Investment and Male Cricket Calling Effort.”
The award of $1,000 will be used in the continued development of Duffield’s work on the interplay between immunity and reproduction in the context of life history evolution.
The Animal Behavioral Society is an international society that promotes the professional study of animal behavior. The society provides annual grants, like the one that Duffield has obtained, which are designed to support excellent young scientists and also familiarize them with a stringent and peer-reviewed grant process.
Duffield, a student of Assistant Professor Ben Sadd and Distinguished Professor Scott Sakaluk, will present results from the funded project at the International Society for Behavioral Ecology Congress held later in 2016 at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
