As part of a subcontract from Infinitec made possible through a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education, Brian Wojcik and Karen Douglas produced the Illinois Assistive Technology Guidance Manual.
The manual’s development was informed through a series of focus groups across Illinois, a review of assistive technology documents from all 50 states, and a comprehensive literature review.
The purpose of this manual is to provide guidance to school systems regarding the processes associated with effective assistive technology (AT) use by students with disabilities. The manual is intended to inform the practices of school systems to promote successful outcomes related to AT use by students with disabilities and to serve as a point of reference for school administrators, teachers, related service personnel, students, and parents of students with disabilities.
