The College of Education mourns the loss of one of its talented young alumna, Brittany Judy ’08, who died in a tragic traffic accident on August 19, 2012, in Grundy County.
Her loss is felt strongly by her friends and colleagues at Lincoln School, as well as her mentors and professors at Illinois State.
Judy earned her bachelor of science from the Department of Special Education in 2008. She was entering her fifth year of teaching at Lincoln School in Ottawa, where she served as a primary learning alternative program teacher.
Bobby Witt-Kannady, the Department of Special Education’s coordinator of McLean County Field-based Clinical Experiences, remembers her former student fondly as “A delightful and caring young woman.”
Judy left an indelible mark at Illinois State and in her teaching career at Lincoln School. Her colleagues describe her as a devoted educator who every day had as much enthusiasm for helping her students learn and grow as she did on her first day of teaching.
