Kevin Will
Film and television actor Kevin Will, ’91, M.S. ’92, was selected as one of the top 15 finalists of The Doorpost Film Project, a short filmmaking contest aimed at discovering and developing filmmakers who produce films that inspire and influence. Each of the finalists received $10,000 to produce a final-round short film, which was showcased at the Doorpost Project Film Festival in Nashville.
In round one, Will, a professional actor and comedian, tackled the topic of forgiveness in the entertaining short, “Is This Blasphemy?” which offered a humorous look at a man’s struggle to reconcile his inner sexual desires with his Catholic faith.
“My collaborators, Tom Martin and Michael Regalbuto, and I wanted to explore the concept of forgiveness in a light-hearted, but thought-provoking way,” Will said. “This has been a challenging and rewarding experience for me as I not only acted, but also wrote and produced this film.”
Will graduated with a bachelor’s in acting and a master’s in playwriting from Illinois State University. Since moving to Hollywood in 1999, he has worked on over 20 different TV shows, five movies and more than 40 commercials. His credits include The Prestige, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, Without a Trace, Prison Break, CSI and Joss Whedon’s latest TV series, Dollhouse, set to premiere this fall.
Will currently lives in Santa Clarita, Calif., with his wife and two young daughters. He credits his acting teacher, Sandy Marshall, for much of his success; he has been assisting her with teaching for the past two and a half years. Although Will has been acting and writing for over a decade, his final round film for The Doorpost Film Project, The Dark Horse, is only the third film he has written and produced.
