Bulletin to Illinois State University’s 170,000 alumni: We have built “A Place for You!”
That place is the long-awaited Illinois State University Alumni Center, located at 1101 N. Main Street in Normal. For most visiting alumni, it is now the first University building you will see after exiting Interstate 55 to Main Street.
And what a beautiful sight it is. The University and the Illinois State Foundation formed a unique partnership to transform an existing building into a showplace of form and function—an exciting new gateway to the University that will welcome and embrace our alumni and campus visitors.
Executive Director of Alumni Relations Stephanie Epp says the Alumni Center will rapidly become the “in” gathering place for alumni, family and friends. Whether it’s cozying up to the Great Hall fireplace to sip coffee and chat, reuniting with former residence hall floormates and other affinity groups, planning or holding your next reunion or meetings in our technology-rich conference rooms or just stopping by for information, directions and a friendly smile, the Illinois State University Alumni Center is the place for you.
The “Red Carpet Unveiling” of the Alumni Center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7-10 p.m. to formally introduce the Alumni Center to alumni and friends. Reservations are required for the event, which is black-tie optional with hors d’oeuvres, dancing and entertainment. Space is limited, and the tickets are $50 per person. To register, click on registration or telephone (309) 438-3204 or the toll-free number (800) 366-4478.
Visit the Alumni Center Web site to explore the project’s beginnings, take a visual tour, read about naming opportunities and get directions. Information on how to reserve a room is available online at reservations or by telephoning (309) 438-2403.
