Illinois State Homecoming brings lights, football and a bash
Illinois State University will be celebrating Homecoming from Sept. 29 to Oct. 5, with a special tree-lighting event in Uptown Normal on Sept. 25. Festival of India returns Sept. 20

Meet and greet with diversity students
Diversity Advocacy invites all faculty and staff to a meet and greet with students involved in diversity initiatives on campus. The event, called The Mix, will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Student Services Building, room 387.

Associate Professor of History Issam Nassar was in Palestine this summer during the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas. He relates his impression of the atmosphere, and the slow reaction of world leaders.
Taking on the mountain
Assistant Professor of Geology Lisa Tranel devotes her research to studying the slow rise of mountains, and the impact it has on their surfaces. With the help of an American Chemical Society grant, Tranel will return to the Guadalupe Mountains in Texas to study the connection between mountain uplift and erosion.
