CRIME ADVISORY 12/11/15

REPORTED OFFENSE:

On Friday, December 11, at approximately 2:24 AM, ISU Police was notified of a fight occurring in the In-Exchange Plaza between Stevenson and Williams Halls. The fight resulted in injuries to an Illinois State University student that required medical attention. One ISU student was arrested for his involvement in the fight and another ISU student suspect is facing Aggravated Battery charges.

This incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State University Police Department.  If you or someone you know has additional information which may aid in the arrest of the suspect, please contact ISU Police at (309) 438-8631.

 

Students and others are strongly encouraged to immediately report ANY suspicious activity to the police and never allow strangers into the residence halls or other secured buildings on campus.

Crime Prevention Tips:

-Stay alert to your surroundings and the people around you. Avoid wearing headphones, talking or texting on your cell phone, or anything which can distract you, including the excessive consumption of alcohol.

-Travel in groups and avoid going out alone at night.

-Plan the safest route to your destination; choose well lighted, busy pathways and streets.

-If someone is bothering or harassing you, tell the person in a loud voice to STAY AWAY.

-Carry your cell phone with you and be prepared to call 911 with a suspect description.

-If you are a victim or witness, call the police immediately and try to remember as many details as possible.
