In 2018 Dr. Roy D. Magnuson completed a user-friendly version of solsticeVR, a virtual reality tool that enables users to compose music. While his work on the “musical sandbox” proved to be a success, just one year later, development on an offshoot of this project began: a virtual reality tool conducting.

Nicole McCoy, a registered nurse of 11 years, is pursuing a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner at Illinois State. “I am excited to explore different areas in nursing outside of my current expertise and explore how I can best serve my community in the future,” she said.

The Rollie and Mary Mercer Endowed Scholarship was established in 2018 by Mary Mercer in memory of her husband Rollie. The endowment supports a student-athlete in the Illinois State football program. Preference is given to an offensive player who demonstrates a team-first attitude.

Dr. Charlotte Talkington ’61 is a loyal university supporter. She retired in 1994 after more than 30 years as faculty in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Talkington solidified her support for the department in 2001 by establishing the Charlotte E. Talkington Professional Development Fund in Family and Consumer Sciences.

A $500,000 gift to Illinois State University from Barbara Efaw ’59 and family will help establish a new success center for education students. The center, which will be named the Barbara and Larry Efaw Center for Educator Excellence, is scheduled to open in the spring in DeGarmo Hall.
