Alumni look to make a #RedbirdImpact in their communities

Illinois State alum Matt Rillie brought together Redbird alumni in April to help a Chicago Public Schools program prepare its urban garden for the growing season.

Volunteer service was a big part of Matt Rillie’s time at Illinois State. The Illinois State alum became well known as a leader in the LGBTQ+ community while serving on ISU Pride’s executive board and as a coordinator for Leaders of Social Change.

Long-hidden mural uncovered during Bone Student Center renovations

The late Professor Emeritus C. Louis Steinburg created a mural when the Bone Student Center opened in 1973. His daughter and Illinois State employee, Jennifer Peterson, was able to see it again during the Bone revitalization.
