Established in 2020 by Joseph ’99 and Shannon Fluder ’00, the Promoting Equality in the Sciences Scholarship aims to support and promote an individual with a commitment to diversity and inclusion at Illinois State University. Junior social work major Daniela Martinez received the scholarship for fall 2022.
The David J. Parent Scholarship was established in 1998 by his friends and family. It recognizes a student studying a foreign language, with preference given to applicants studying German.
The MCN Staff Excellence Award was created by Janeen and Matt Mollenhauer in 2017 to recognize and honor outstanding employees, and to provide professional development opportunities and support for the Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) staff.
Established in 2009 by sisters Dana ’85, M.S. ’87, and Dr. Dianne Ashby, and Dianne’s husband Jack Lockman, the Ashby-Lockman Family Future Special Education Teacher Scholarship assists first-generation students pursuing a degree in special education. This year’s recipient, Isaiah Douglas, said receiving the award allowed him to grow as a student in Illinois State’s Department of Special Education.
Emily Keebler is a senior exercise science major and member of Illinois State’s swimming and diving team. She received the Dr. Peter Yuan Kai Wang Scholastic Excellence Award in recognition of her work in Illinois State’s School of Kinesiology and Recreation (KNR).

Dietz and Marlene Dietz were honored for their longtime dedication to Illinois State on August 26, 2022, with the unveiling of the Dr. Larry and Marlene Dietz Welcome Desk. The welcome desk is located within the Bone Student Center, which was renovated during Dietz’s presidency.
On September 14 and 15, Thank-a-Donor Days will return for its fifth year of in-person celebrations. This year’s event will take place in the Bone Student Center’s Prairie Rooms 1 & 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.
