With over 400 registered student organizations (RSOs) at Illinois State University, students are likely to find a group that aligns with their passions, skills, and interests. This number continues to grow as new RSOs are formed, creating even more opportunities for students to get involved on campus.

Join Lara Schwartz, of PEN America and founding director of the American University Project on Civil Discourse, and Dr. Katy Strzepek, Ph.D. ’18, director of the Center for Civic Engagement, for an interactive online workshop designed to introduce faculty, staff, and administrators to the legal framework of the First Amendment, principles of free speech and academic freedom, and unprotected speech such as harassment or threats.

The Latin American and Latina/o Studies Program is thrilled to announce the Third Annual Community of Belonging and Success (COBAS) Workshop, focusing on the recruitment, retention, and degree completion of first-generation students. This year, the keynote speaker is Dr. Howard Rambsy II, a renowned research professor from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. His presentation, “Safe & Salient Spaces: The Importance of Enriched Environments for Underrepresented Students,” will delve into the successful strategies employed in his courses for first-year Black men and women, emphasizing the creation of supportive and empowering educational environments.
