The fact that the United States is experiencing a national teacher shortage is well documented, and there are many contributing factors, including salary concerns, funding cuts, and attrition due to retirements.
COVID-19 has affected virtually everything surrounding education, and teachers have had to be extremely creative in delivering learning experiences for their students.
Meado Randolph’s dedication to service and leadership has earned her a McLean County Full Tuition Scholarship. She is one of seven incoming McLean County freshmen to receive the scholarship, which provides four years of free tuition in recognition of their leadership, community service, and commitment to our community.

Metcalf Laboratory School faculty, staff, and students honored veterans on Monday, November 11, with an all-school assembly. Teachers Ronda Wilder and Crystal Patterson collaborated to honor the living, deceased, and currently serving military members connected to Metcalf. University High School will present Love/Sick at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 10. All performances will be in the Ruth A. Stroud Auditorium at U-High. Tickets are available online and at the door. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for students.
Science teacher Emily Telford knew that it would be a lot more interesting for her freshman to examine sea level rising while flying over waterways in a blimp, so that’s exactly what she had them do- virtually, that is, through Oculus Go headsets that her classroom has access to.
