Two Illinois State University students recently visited the town of San Sebastián del Monte, a small community in southern Mexico, to produce a documentary film focused on the preservation of the Indigenous language Mixtec.

This year, the keynote speaker is Dr. Howard Rambsy II, a renowned research professor from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. His presentation, “Safe & Salient Spaces: The Importance of Enriched Environments for Underrepresented Students,” will delve into the successful strategies employed in his courses for first-year Black men and women, emphasizing the creation of supportive and empowering educational environments. Dr. Juana Goergen to present bilingual poetry reading at Milner Library, April 10
On Wednesday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m., Dr. Juana Goergen, M.A ‘86, will deliver a bilingual reading of her poetry on the second floor of Milner Library as part of National Library Week and National Poetry Month. A book signing will follow her presentation.
