The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University has been recognized by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for the excellence modeled by its staff in supporting Illinois teachers working to achieve their National Board certification in 2021.

Maddi Bodine, a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) and Zebulon “Zeb” Holder, NBCT candidate, were named 2021 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching winners. They are among 10 Illinois teachers chosen for this honor. This year, the Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching winners were selected from over 708 nominees from all across the state—a new record for Illinois.
On Thursday, April 22nd, the National Board Resource Center hosted its first-ever virtual recognition ceremony to honor and applaud all Illinois teachers who achieved or renewed their National Board certification in 2020, featuring a keynote address from Governor J. B. Pritzker.
