Bich Tran, who recently completed a graduate degree in the Department of Politics and Government, and Derek Ruszkowski, an Applied Community and Economic Development graduate student in sociology, secured a Young Wonders Kitchen Remodel Grant from the Lowe’s Corporation for over $15,000.

Stevenson Center celebrates student success
Stevenson Center students have accomplished a lot over the past two years. Offering an interdisciplinary graduate experience for Peace Corps Fellows and Applied Community and Economic Development Fellows, the Stevenson Center focuses on preparing students for successful careers in community and economic development.
Roommates accepted into Peace Corps
Peace Corps Prep students Max Plonczynski and Brad Christin were accepted into the Peace Corps and will begin their service later this year. Peace Corps Prep is an undergraduate program offered by the Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development that helps students develop and document core competencies valued by Peace Corps and other employers.
Graduate fellow brings experience to Houston nonprofit
Change Happens, a Houston-based nonprofit, is hosting Applied Community and Economic Development Fellow Lindsey Earl for her professional practice. This is the first year that Change Happens is partnering with the Stevenson Center, providing an invaluable opportunity to refine skills while helping Change Happens fulfill its mission.

Brunk named a 2018 Newman Civic Fellow
Kate Brunk, a graduate student at Illinois State University, has been named a Newman Civic Fellow with Campus Compact, a national non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education.
