The sixth annual Image of Research exhibit and reception will take place on Thursday, February 13, at University Galleries in Uptown Normal. The reception will be held from 4-6 p.m.

The exhibition features images created by Illinois State University undergraduate and graduate student researchers who are finalists in the Image of Research competition. For this competition, students submit one image that creatively represents their research along with a brief written description of their project. Jurors judge these images based on their visual impact, originality, and connection to the student’s research project. Winning entries receive cash awards up to $200.

This year’s entries were evaluated by invited jurors Matt Erickson and Troy Freeman. Erickson is a long-time Bloomington-Normal artist and owner of the Cometogethespace gallery and studios.  Freeman is a commercial muralist whose large-scale artworks can be found coast-to-coast throughout the United States and Canada.

One award, the People’s Choice, is reserved for visitors to the exhibition who are invited to vote for their favorite images in the undergraduate and graduate categories.

Admission to the Galleries is free and all are welcome to attend the reception. This event is sponsored by the Office of Student Research, Milner Library, and the University Galleries.
