Antiques exhibitors from a variety of Midwestern states will be gathering from Friday, Jan. 28, to Sunday, Jan.30, at the Illinois State University Bone Student Center to present the fifth Top of the Class Antiques Show and Sale.

Show hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 and is valid all three days. There will be no admission charge for children under the age of 12. Reduced price coupons are available at most antique malls and by mail from the School of Communication.

Top of the Class will feature over 30 quality exhibitors who will be showing items available for purchase such as early American and European furniture, china, glassware, vintage jewelry, toys and dolls, metalware, stoneware and pottery. Early Americana, ephemera, Mission, photographic images, and textiles will also be on display. Many of the exhibiting dealers travel a national circuit and this is their only scheduled appearance in Central Illinois.

Vendors include Beverly Forrester Antiques, Shawnee, KS, Nigel Russel Antiques from St. Charles, Mo., Yesterday’s Memories, Brookfield, Wis., 4 Ever Looking Antiques from Rensselaer, Ind., Mad Cat Antiques, Waterloo, Iowa, and Turtle Creek Antiques from Chicago.

Budget cuts and reduced state funding continue to challenge the students of the School of Communication, leaving students with a smaller selection of classes, less printed material, and fewer supplies for faculty. The School of Communication hopes to counteract some of its financial difficulties by raising funds through the Top of the Class Antiques Show which is staffed entirely by volunteers.
