Are you getting ready to interview for a new job? If you are a new competitor in the job market who is lacking experience with interviewing, or one who gets many interviews, but doesn’t receive a job offer, the Career Center has something for you.

A recent Society of Human Resources Management study revealed that a candidate’s background and qualifications are far less influential in hiring decisions than a candidate’s interview performance and professionalism. In other words, a good resume may get you in the door, but a good interview will get you the job.

Just one practice interview may make a marked improvement in your interview capabilities. That’s why the Career Center provides Interview Stream, an online interview tool on its website.

Interview Stream allows you to participate in a practice interview using pre-recorded questions, and videotapes your performance as well as your answers for review or critique. Best of all, your interview is saved in your personal Interview Stream account so you can review anytime on your own, or send to the Career Center for a career advisor to review and provide feedback.

Interview Stream is simple and easy to use. Just visit the Career Center website and click on Interview Stream located under the “Online Tools” section. Create your own online account, and connect a webcam to your Web-accessible computer. You’ll be able to begin using Interview Stream right away to hone your skills.

Practice makes perfect. So let Interview Stream help you identify your weaknesses so you can improve your interview performance. You’ll also experience reduced anxiety during your interview, boost your confidence, and help you gain a more accurate perspective of yourself. Ultimately, by using Interview Stream you’ll be making a very real investment in not only your valuable job searching time, but in your future.
