The following offerings are provided by the Illinois State Career Center to help alumni build career connections and professional networks:

Services

  • Career assistance – Get expert advice from an experienced career advisor specifically assigned to work with alums. Identify careers that best meet your skills and interests, develop job-search skills and strategies to help you define and implement your career goals, and participate in resume critiques, cover letter writing and interview preparation. Graduate and professional school planning assistance is also available.

Programs and Events           

  • Graduate school support – Interested in attending graduate school? Learn how to prepare for graduate school by attending the Graduate School Series. Attend an individual workshop or all five, including GRE prep by The Princeton Review. Pre-registration is required. Those interested in attending graduate school but still in the process of identifying programs are invited to attend the Central Illinois Graduate School Fair on campus on October 2. Meet recruiters from graduate school programs locally and from across the country.
  • Career fairs and networking events – Connect with employers seeking to fill openings at the many events hosted by the Career Center throughout the year.  Check out the complete list of the Career Center’s upcoming events.

Online tools

  • Free job posting system – Visit eRecruiting, the most expansive employment resource available through Illinois State. Search for full-time positions and upload resumes into tailored resume books, all offered as a free service to alumni. Contact the Career Center to create a profile and begin scheduling on-campus interviews.
  • InterviewStream – Practice your interviewing skills from home using customizable interview questions, then review your videotaped results.  All you need is a computer with a camera and Internet access. Or, stop by the Career Center to use ours.
  • FOCUS – Get a realistic view of the best educational and career options for your future success using this online self-assessment tool available on the Career Center website.
