The Career Center at Illinois State University is hosting What’s in it for Me? Career Night 2012 on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. in the Bone Student Center Brown Ballroom for students and alumni.

The conference-style program includes speakers who will provide helpful tips on career development and the job search process. Keynote speaker Drew Butts, human resource manager with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, will reveal “The Top Ten Things Employers Don’t Tell You.”

In addition to the keynote speaker, attendees also choose two of four 30-minute sessions to attend, including “Social Media: Friend or Foe,” “Sell Yourself in 30 Seconds: Job Fairs and Interviews,” “Intern Yourself into a Career,” and “Grad School for the Right Reasons.”

The Career Center is also offering additional perks to attendees. Free pizza will be provided from 4:45-5 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be prize drawings held throughout the evening.

“The Career Center helps arm students with the job search skills they need to be successful in a competitive job environment; provides connections to potential internships, professional practice and full-time employment; and supports students interested in attending graduate school, to name just a few of our services,” said Career Center Assistant Director Suzy Baker Bachman. “With Career Night 2012, students can attend several sessions that touch on each of those topic areas, along with a guest speaker who will provide additional advice to students. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get some very helpful information for their future, all in one evening.”
