Anyone who studied abroad while in college knows what a powerful experience it can be.

A photo exhibition on display earlier this semester at Milner Library captured the incredible moments that a group of Illinois State Honors students experienced while studying abroad prior to December 2012. Students were asked to submit one or two photos that they felt exemplified both their experience and the destination’s culture at large. They were placed in three categories: people, landscapes, or architecture.

The photos were on display at Milner until a closing reception last week, when the winners of the Images from Around the World photo contest were announced. The contest was co-sponsored by the Milner Library, the Office of International Studies, and the Honors Program. Contest judges were Illinois State University photographer Lyndsie Schlink, Pantagraph photographer Lori Ann Cook-Neisler, and Professor Emeritus Tak Cheung.
